Troubleshooting Steps:

This page provides steps to resolve common issues such as a blank screen, loading errors, or game interruptions.

1. Blank White Issue

A blank screen when launching the Restaurant or Travel games is usually caused by a browser setting that blocks video auto-play.

Click on the screen to get the video to play or follow the instructions below to enable auto-play based on your browser.

Enable Auto-Play for Videos

Safari

1. Open Safari and go to Safari > Preferences (or Settings) from the top menu bar.

2. Click the Websites tab.

3. Select Auto-Play in the left-hand column.

4. In the bottom-right corner, find “When visiting other websites”.

5. Choose Allow All Auto-Play from the dropdown.

6. Close the window to save your changes.

Firefox

1. Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner and select Settings.

2. In the left menu, choose Privacy & Security.

3. Scroll to the Permissions section.

4. Locate Autoplay and click Settings…

5. Under Default for all websites, select Allow Audio and Video.

6. Click Save Changes.

2. Clear Cache Before Starting the Game

Windows
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + R or Ctrl + Alt + R to refresh and clear the session cache.
Mac
  • Press Command + Option + E to clear the cache.
  • Then press Command + R to refresh the page.

3. Game Stuck for a Single Player

1. Try a simple refresh and rejoin the game.
2. If redirected to the start screen, enter the exact same username and avatar to rejoin seamlessly.

4. Facilitator Incorrect Move

If the facilitator makes an incorrect move:
  • They cannot undo the action.
  • Clicking Go will clear the current turn.
  • The next turn will begin without any issues.

5. Disable Ad Blockers / Script Blockers

Ad blockers or privacy extensions may block essential game scripts.

If the game:

  • refuses to load
  • buttons stop working
  • cards don’t appear
  • videos don’t play

Then the user may have:

  • AdBlock
  • uBlock Origin
  • Privacy Badger
  • Ghostery
  • DuckDuckGo privacy extension

Solution:
Temporarily disable all ad blockers for this site.

6. Audio Must Be On

Some browsers block autoplay if audio is muted.
Ensure:

  • device volume is not zero
  • browser tab is not muted
  • media settings allow sound

7. Do Not Minimize or Switch Tabs Too Frequently

Switching tabs rapidly can cause:

  • delayed updates
  • lost connection
  • UI desync
  • incorrect turn behaviour

Stay on the game tab during play.

8. Buttons Not Responding (User Can See the Screen but Cannot Click)

Sometimes users can still see the game but cannot click any buttons. This is usually caused by browser or WebGL behaviour, not the game itself.

Possible Causes

  • Browser lost focus (user switched tabs, clicked outside the game, opened another window). – Main cause usually
  • Autoplay blocked, leaving the video overlay active and blocking all clicks.
  • Weak or unstable Wi-Fi causing Photon to stop updating button states.
  • Multiple tabs of the game open, causing input to stop working in one tab.
  • Safari/iPad limitations, where pointer events stop working suddenly.
  • WebGL input glitch, common on older devices.

Solution

  • Refresh the page and if need be, rejoin using the same name and avatar.
Refreshing resets WebGL input, restores button functionality, and reconnects the player cleanly.

Prevention

  • Use Google Chrome.
  • Avoid Safari and iPads if possible.
  • Keep only one tab open.
  • Ensure autoplay is enabled.
  • Avoid switching tabs or zooming the browser during gameplay.
